Pikey Peak trekking
The Trails cut between mountains and run by the riverside route lies in the eye catching Lower part of SolukhmbuKhumbu region of Nepal that is in Solukhmbu district. The trekking route gradually start from Dhap, which is only a 6-7 hour drive away from Kathmandu . You can also reach the trekking destination by a 25-minute flight to Phalpu from Kathmandu.
Itinerary of Pikey Peak Trek
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu
WELCOME TO NEPAL
Our team will welcome you at Tribhuwan International Airport on the very first day. You will check in the hotels and explore the Kathmandu valley with our guide staff. On the same day, you will get a chance to visit the historical and religious sites. As Kathmandu is called the City of Temples, you will find a temple after every three houses. The fantastic thing about the capital city is there are seven UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Day 2:Kathmandu to Japre
We will start our day by Driving (7-8 hour) from Kathmandu to Dhap. And we will start trekking gradually as you reach near Sigane, You will get to witness beautiful Numbur Mountain..
The very first village you reach is called Japre (2920 m.)The route from Sigane follows a road under construction for the first couple of hours, perched above a deep valley with nice views of Everest and Numbur Himal. In Japre there’s a Buddhist Monastry and stupa there, and this is your stop for the night
Day 3:Japre to Pikey Base camp
After spending a night in beautiful Sherpa village Japre, the trail gradually climbs up to a Bhulbhule. There’s only one single lodge with no name and with spectacular views of the Everest range from here. After Bhulbhule, the trail splits and you’ll turn right to Pikey Peak. On you will get to witness some old yak houses and a long mani stone wall(Buddhist ). The trail then contours the hillside below Taklung Danda and goes through a beautiful forested trail.
Along the way you will witness red jungle full of rhododendrons here along a level path (which you can see in bloom if trekking in the spring). As you leave the forest ,Soon you will reach to Pikey Peak base camp, about 2 hours away. From here, it’s a short climb to the summit at 4065 m. Unless you have an unusually clear evening, it’s better to climb to the summit in the morning for sunrise.
Day 4: Watch Sunrise at Pikey Peak and Trek to Loding
In a Very early morning, you’ll climb up to the summit, covered with full of Buddhist prayer flags. The views from the summit is literally breathtaking! If the weather is clear, you’ll witness with panoramic views from Annapurna to Kanchenjunga.
After that, you’ll follow a ridgeline enter the forest to Jase Bhanjyang, where you will have your breakfast. After breakfast, you’ll continue your walk down to Loding, which passes through some steep sections in the forest. At Loding, you’ll spent one night over there.
Day 5;Loding to Junbesi,
After descending from Loding have your breakfast at Jase Bhanjyang. Leaving there, there are a few options for the descent to Junbesi. The most likely is a stunning shortcut trail that leaves the ridge shortly after Jase and descends steeply through spectacular old growth forest to Taktor.
From Taktor, it will take couple of hours to reach Junbesi. Junbesi is a typical traditional Sherpa village with altitude of 2675 m. Full of Sherpa culture and architecture
Day 6:Junbesi to Taksindu
Early in the morning you will gradually start trekking by Crossing the river at the bottom of town on the way and climb through the forest up to Salung, from where you can see spectacular views of Mount Everest (8848 m,)Chamlang (7319 m) and Makalu (8481 m), if weather goes well..
Continue on the trail, before a short climb up into Ringmo, famous for its apple orchards and interesting apple products such as apple rakshi (alcohol), cider and apple pie. From here, there’s a final short climb to Taksindu La, from where there are again great mountains views, and then a short descent to the Taksindu Monastery and your lodge. The Taksindu Monastery was built in 1946 and is usually open early morning or late afternoon. Please make sure to leave a donation if you visit
Day 7: Taksindu to Phaplu, Visit Chiwong Gompa
The last day of walking and take a beautiful path down to Phaplu through the forest. There’s also the option of hiking up to Chiwong Gompa, perched high on a cliff overlooking the valley. This monastery was founded in 1923 and has magnificent celebrations for the Mani Rimdu festival in autumn. Continue on down into Phaplu and celebrate the completion of a great trek.
Day 8: Drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu
Today is the last day of trek farewell to the mountains and board our vehicle for the drive back into the Kathmandu Valley. In Kathmandu, we take you to any hotel, and the evening is up to you to take some rest and relax after a long drive and also we can do some shopping around Thamel. Later on evening we will have our farewell dinner (nepali cuisine).
Driving time: Approx. 10 hours
Day 9: Back to your Home country
As per your ticketing schedule, the 9th day is the day of departure back to your home country. If you are well impressed by the beauty and want to extend your visa period to explore different amazing treks and places, you may do that even on the last day

- Extra night accommodation in Kathmandu because of early arrival, late departure, and earlier return from the mountain (due to any reason) than the scheduled itinerary.

- Personal expenses (phone calls, internet / Wi-Fi, laundry, bar bills – tea/coffee, hot chocolate, juice, beer, battery recharge, extra porters, bottled or boiled water, shower etc.) .
- Tips for guides and porters.

It is very important to carry a First Aid kit while trekking in the mountains. Some of the essential medicines and first aid kits are as follows.
- Small first aid kit
- Sprint Bandage
- Headache tablets
- Imodium (loperamide)
- It is good to consult your physician for Acetazolamide (Diamox), a drug that mitigates the effects of altitude, headache, diarrhoea & vomiting.
Trekking Tips
- Always carry a First Aid Kit while trekking.
- Do not touch people when they are on the way to temples.
- Beef is prohibited in Nepal. No female animal is killed for food.
- You may not be allowed to enter the inner part of temples and stupas.
- It is better to take permission before using cameras while visiting temples, stupas, and heritage sites.
- Briefs, shorts, bare shoulders, and backs may not be appreciated in rural villages. So, stay comfortably and decently covered.
- Public display of affection is not entertained nicely in rural parts.
- If a Nepali lady hesitates to shake hands with you, it is common in rural parts. It is better to greet with ‘Namaste’ by joining both the palms and it is an appreciated gesture.
- Use a hotel safety box for your valuables.
- While visiting villages, you may not get all the luxuries and modern amenities. So, expecting modern services in rural villages is futile.
- If you have any problems, do not hesitate to ask your guide for solutions
