Overview of Everest Base Camp with Island Peak Climbing

Let’s feel the adventurous joy experienced by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norge Sherpa, who prepared themselves to summit the World’s highest peak on the Island peak. EBC Trek is a once-upon-a-lifetime journey that deals with all forms of struggle and commitment to pursue the best decision of your life. We will encounter a death-threatening geographical structure which will be the best source of motivation to follow your dream.

The Summiting Island peak, which stays at a massive height of 6189 m, is a considerable achievement. Just imagine risking your life while climbing the giant snowcapped peak on your potential gives you the strength to recover all your mental illness. The whitish mountains all around you will make you feel like you landed in the home of god. You will undergo death-threatening weather and a large number of Himalayan winds.

Just imagine the experience of trekking on the base of the World’s highest peak and summit of one of the most identical peaks to Mt. Everest. Island Peak was taken as a preparatory training peak before climbing Mt. Everest by the first climber in the World, Tenjin Norge Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary. The 6189 m high Island peak is physically very challenging as routes of the mountains are very slippery and covered with snow all the time.

The actual EBC trek with the Island peak summit begins from Lukla. However, the journey starts from the Kathmandu flight to Lukla. The beautiful Lukla airport is considered one of the most dangerous airports in the World, with just a 527 m runway.

We will trek following the DudhKoshiriver from Lukla, Phakding, and then Namche Bazar. Before attempting this Trek with Summit package, you must have a brave and well-prepared mindset. Island peak is often named in Tibet ImjaTse. This peak was called the Island peak due to its appearance as an island in the sea of ice.

Before attempting towards EBC, you need to acclimatize at a lower altitude and prepare yourself healthy and biologically well-being to hike. You can observe Everest from several locations during the hike to EBC.

Tengboche (3860 m):-

This Trek offers lots of mountaineering expeditions. We head through Tengboche, which lies in the Khumbu region of Province 1 at a massive altitude of 3860 m. This small village is a Buddhist-settled village where the most significant Buddhist Monastery, Tengboche Monastery, is placed. Villagers initially constructed these structures in 1923.

Tengboche has all the ingredients required to be called an incredible Himalayan village. We can witness a beautiful Himalayan range of Tawache, Everest, Lhotse, AmaDablam, and Nuptse from the verse of Tengboche village.

Dingboche:-

Dingboche is a well-known stop for mountaineers and Trekkers on the way to Everest Base Camp. Dingboche is a village of homestays where every house offers lodging service. A helicopter pad is located near Imja River near a Lodge. It’s good news that you will be able to surf some internet in this region in a local internet café which uses satellite technology for internet and communication.

On the way, you can observe many enchanted Buddhist carved stones and a small stupa near the Imjariver. This village is safe geographically as there is less chance of ice winds. Yaks and Mules are the domestic animals mainly found in this region. Dingboche remains cool throughout the year, with clear mountain visibility during spring seasons. In winter, the temperature remains freezing, so it will be tough to hike as most of the lodges here will remain closed throughout the winter.

Lobuche:-

Lobuche is another Nepalese village on the lap of the mountain, which is close to Khumbu Glacier. The town is elevated on 4910 m. Lobuche is mainly a range of two peaks, i.e., Lobuche East and Lobuche West. The east peak has an elevation of 6119m, whereas the West is 6145 m high. Lobuche takes a few hours to be summited easily as the trails are well-managed and broader enough.

Researching the history of Lobuche was first summited by Laurence Nielson and Sherpa AngGyalzen on the 15th of April 1984. The village reflects Tibetan culture and Buddhist tradition.

Kalapatthar (5545):-

Kalapatthar is a beautiful viewpoint at a gigantic altitude of 5545 m. Witnessing the smiling face of Mt. Everest and other highest peaks in the World in a single frame is an absolute dream come true for any human on earth. The webcam at the World’s highest point is located in Kalapatthar, which makes the study of change in the physical structure of the mountains possible.

Gorakshep

Gorakshep was initially called Everest Base Camp, situated at the height of 5164 m, but later, for the closest view, EBC was extended farther. Gorakshep comprises the perfect helicopter Launchpad (Helicopters are often used for emergencies and return purposes). Gorakshep is a small village on the edge of a frozen lakebed, likely filled with snow and sand. Gorakshep is not habitable throughout winter because of the minus-degree unsurvivable weather.

Everest Base Camp

After passing almost 300 Km, we finally reached our goal of the base of the World’s highest peak. The dangerous base camp near Khumbu Icefall lies at an altitude of 5364 m. This place is the beginning camp for mountaineers who take a climbing permit of $11000 from the government of Nepal. Everest Base Camp is the closest place to witness the World’s highest peak. You can notice hundreds of international trekkers trekking to Everest Base Camp.

Island peak

Island Peak is best called Imja Peak, named in 1983, especially in Tibetan culture. It is situated at a height of 6160, with a whitish appearance and moderate difficulty. This peak was first climbed in 1953 as a training exercise to summit Mt. Everest by the Tenzing Norge Sherpa, Charles Evans, and a team. The trails of the peak are pretty slippery in some parts, but for a learner, it will be an adventurous climbing experience.
