As We all know that we  Adventure/Mountain lovers we love to trek/climb in the mountain  for that purpose we often  go through the High altitude places. since, most of us we are not that familiar with high altitude sometimes we may face high altitude sickness. Mountain sickness.

You can get altitude sickness if you travel to a high altitude too quickly. Your Breathing may becomes difficult because you’re not able to take in as much oxygen as required by your body. Altitude sickness, also called acute mountain sickness (AMS), which can become a medical emergency if we ignore them.

1.What are symptoms of acute mountain sickness?

Symptom

  • Difficulty sleeping.
  • Dizziness or light-headedness.
  • Fatigue.
  • Headache.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Rapid pulse (heart rate)
  • Shortness of breath with exertion.

Mountain climbers are at high risk of developing altitude sickness. Altitude sickness is caused by ascending too rapidly, which doesn’t allow the body enough time to adjust to reduced oxygen and changes in air pressure.

Mainly Altitude sickness is divided into 3 syndromes: acute mountain sickness (AMS), high-altitude cerebral edema (HACE), and high-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE).

We face Mountain sickness from a rapidly change in air pressure and air oxygen levels at higher elevations. You may have symptoms if you travel to a high elevation without giving your body time to adjust to less oxygen. Even if you’re physically fit, you can still experience altitude sickness.

Basically Mild cases are usually treated with supportive care including rest, pain medications for headache, and hydration. More severe cases can be treated with oxygen given through a nasal cannula as well as with prescription medications such as acetazolamide, dexamethasone, or both.

6.What is the best medicine for altitude sickness?

Dexamethasone is a steroid medicine that reduces swelling of the brain. It’s often carried by professional mountain climbers as part of their medical supplies. If you cannot go down immediately, dexamethasone can help relieve symptoms until it’s safe to do so
