Mera Peak is a  trekking peak that is located in  the Mahalangur range of Nepal, which lies in an altitude of 6,476 m that is around 21,246 ft above sea level. This Amazing peaks offers Panaromic  views of Mount Everest,Makalu, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and other many other amazing Himalayan peaks.

The journey to Mera Peak starts from the perilous Lukla airport and takes trekkers through sherpa villages, deep dense forests, and high-landscapes. We will need prior mountaineering experience and appropriate gear to reach at the Summit.

The journey:-
The Mera Peak Climbing trek lasts 18 eventful days beginning from the capital city of Nepal. However, the actual trek begins from Lukla where you need to begin hiking around the multiple Sherpa village. You will observe the Himalayan people and their lifestyle with lots of kindness and innocence in their behavior.

01
Day 1: Landing at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, you will be greeted with a warm welcome and transported in a private vehicle to one of the city’s premium hotels. Your first day will be a thrilling exploration of the cultural and spiritual gems of the Kathmandu valley, guided by one of our knowledgeable experts. Highlights include visits to the revered Pashupatinath Temple, the ancient Swayambhunath Stupa, and the sacred Buddha Stupa.

Day 2: Exploring historical sites in the valley

On Day Two of your journey in Nepal, you will embark on a guided tour of some of the most significant historical sites in the valley. The itinerary includes visits to the renowned Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the ancient Chungunarayan Temple, and the historic Hanuman Dhoka, among others. Later in the day, you will have the opportunity to do some shopping in preparation for your trek to the majestic Mera Peak.

Day 3: Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, hike to Chutanga

Fasten your seatbelt, as you are about to arrive at one of the world’s most challenging airports, Lukla. The breathtaking views of the hills and mountains from the 35-minute flight will leave a lasting impression. After landing, we will embark on a 4-5 hour hike to reach Chutanga, passing through lush forests and quaint, primitive villages dotted with stone houses. We will spend the day acclimatizing in Chutanga.

Day 4: Hike from Chutanga to ThuliKharka

Chutanga is a beautiful place to wake up at an elevation of 3500 m. After having a meal, we will be hiking to ThuliKharka which stands at an elevation of 4300 m surpassing the trails of Zatrwa La (4600 m). The trail goes through a beautiful Rhododendron forest which becomes entirely red during the Spring season. We will climb a very tough KaloHimal ridge where some stones and prayer flags are made. We go through Zatrwa La Pass which separates Khumbu valley and Hinku Valley.

We walk for a few minutes until we reach ThuliKharke. The word ‘ThuliKharka’ means ‘big meadow’ covered by huge boulders and stubby grasses. We will be spending a night in a local tea house.

Day 5: ThuliKharke to Kothe

On this day we will be exploring the view of beautiful Hinku Valley, KusumKanguru, Peak 43 along with a glipse of Mera peak. Following the pine and rhododendron forest, we head towards a tea house to have a well-deserved rest after seven long hours of continuous hike.

Day 6: Trek to Thaknak

It’s your sixth day in Nepal and you will be hiking around the most beautiful terrains at the base of snowy mountains. Following the trails of upper Hinku valley, we will not observe any human inhabitants at that altitude.

Here you can witness the eye mesmerizing views of Mera Peak, CharpatiHimal, Mt. KusumKanguru, and Mt. Thamserku. We will take prayers from a 200 years old Buddhist shrine and continue our walk until we reach Thaknak. After continuous 4 hours of hike, we will be resting at a tea house enjoying the beautiful scenery of CharpatiHimal in front.

Day 7: Thaknak to Khare

Khare stands tall at a whooping eleivation of 5045 m above sea level. One can reach Khare by a four-hour walk from Thaknak. As we will be gaining subsequent elevation, our body’s oxygen level may get down. To reach Khare, we ascend the Dig Glacier and a lake named Charpati Tal and then descend to Dig Kharka.

The eye-appealing views of the glacier and snowy peaks will make you fall in love with the atmosphere. Positive vibes start coming into your mind which states the satisfaction and the sense of achievement after a long hike. We will also climb HunkuNup and Shar Glacier just a moment before we reach Khare.

Khare is situated at the foot of Mera peak so it is commonly known as Mera Peak base camp.

Day 8: Acclimatization day at Khare

Acclimatization at the massive altitude of 5000 meters is important too. So, we will spend a full day exploring the beauty of Khare. In order the glipse of heaven in our mind, we explore Khare. On this day, we will prepare ourselves to climb by doing some training stuff. We will try to figure out the way, make plans and harness some mountaineering skills, and set up all the equipment required.

Day 9: Trek from Khare to Mera High Camp

Mera high camp is situated at a height of 5780 m with splendid views of three summits of Mera peak. For the first attempt, we try to summit Mera Central. To reach Mera high camp, we need to ascend straight and up the Mera glacier for about 7 long hours where we don’t need any mountaineering skills.

The eye-appealing view of Mt. Everest (8848 m), Mt. Kanchanjunga (8586 m), Mt. Lhotse (8516 m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8188 m), and Mt. Makalu (8485 m) will take your breath. We will be spending the night early in a tent.

Day 10: Summit Mera Peak and descend back to Khare

The wait to summit the top of Mera peak will be over today as we will be attempting to achieve our goal. Early at 2 Am, we will be getting ready to tie the ropes crossing the Mera glacier.

As per our plan, we will reach the summit at 9-10 AM. The satisfaction of achieving such a massive milestone is something else that can’t be described in words.

The overall trails are of medium level difficulty but the last 40-50 m to the summit is quite difficult to climb. The 360-degree panoramic views from the top of Mera Peak are just magical. We can witness the highest possible views of Mt. Everest along with Mt. Makalu, Mt. Kanchanjunga, Mt. Lhotse, and Mt. Cho Oyu.

After spending 5-10 minutes at the summit, we descend to Khare where hot coffee and soup will be waiting for us.

We will stay the night at Khare.

Day 11: Reserved day for backup

In case the plan to climb on the 10th day gets canceled due to bad weather, we can still summit the Mera peak on the 11th day. It’s typically a reserved day where we will be resting our tiredness and regaining our stamina for the next day of the hike.

Day 12: Descend to ThuliKharka

It’s a busy day of trekking, as we will be hiking for almost 9 hours from Khare to ThuliKharka. Today we will descend the massive altitude of more than 800-1000 m. After hiking all day long, we will stay at a local tea house in ThuliKharka.

Day 13: Hike to Lukla through Zatrawa la pass

We will speed up the time as we will be descending almost 1300 meter altitude to reach Lukla. We will be staying at Lukla hotel near the airport which will make us on time to pick up the morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu on the very next day.

Day 14: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu

It’s time to tata bye-bye to the Lukla as we will be completing the goal of hiking on the top of the Mera peak. Enjoying the breathtaking scenery in a 35-minute flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, we will reach Kathmandu in no time.

As we will be tired enough to take rest on an entire day.

Day 15: Exploring Kathmandu valley

As today will be your last night in Nepal, you must have some traditional Nepali goods with you. You may have shopping or explore the valley.

Day 16: Back to your Home country

We will be there to thank you at Tribhuwan International Airport, departure section with a special token of love from us. We appreciate your enthusiasm to explore Nepal.
